Masterchef Recap: The Death of the Reef

Previously on Masterchef: Nicole cooked so badly that she couldn’t even beat Tim, and went home.

Tonight on Masterchef: Larissa is, thank god, down off the balcony.

We all remember Peter Gilmore, the jolly giant who once upon a time set an incredibly difficult dessert challenge for Masterchef finalists, causing everyone who ever appeared on Masterchef from that point on to assume that dessert is the main point of cooking.

Well, he’s back!

The voiceover guy at the start tells us that Peter’s dish will “test them beyond their limits”, which I can only assume means they are going to die tonight.

Looking forward to that.

Larissa is gazing soulfully out of a window and cradling a coffee cup. She has been dreaming about this day. She is about to start narrating an ad for Telstra, but has to break off to head to the kitchen.

Simon says that since entering the competition he’s changed a lot. For example when he started he loved cooking delicious food, but in the last challenge he cooked cabbage.

The amateurs gather in the kitchen. “You never really know what’s going to happen next in the Masterchef kitchen,” says George, going on to inform them that their overtime has been cancelled.

Today, three of the remaining four amateurs will get into the grand final, which means today will be a joyous occasion, with three winners and only one hopeless…
